About Written Medicine
Focusing on Medical Equality
Written Medicine was founded in 2012 on the principles of increasing patient access to medical information. Working in pharmacies on the high street in London’s vibrant multicultural communities presents a persistent communication barrier where patients do not speak English.
Our aim is to improve the current state of affairs where these patients are excluded from the benefits provided by the established health infrastructure for not being proficient in English.
About our Language System
Our cloud-based software makes use of a database of hand-compiled phrases that we have translated by professional translators in a 4-stage development process. The last stage of this process is testing by a UK qualified pharmacist who is literate in the translated language.

Patients who use our system through our affiliates have come together to describe how Written Medicine has not only helped them take their medication properly, but also improved their overall outlook and wellbeing.
“My mother came to live with us from France. Her English isn’t very good. It was a pleasure getting her prescriptions translated by Written Medicing because I have the confidence that they are acccurate and brief.”
Laurie Allarine
“I want to express my sincere gratitude to Written Medicine for providing accurate translations of Polish for my father’s prescription medications. This service has been incredibly helpful for my family and for my father.”
